Body Found at Northport Pier Identified

According to Door County Sheriff Steven G. Delarwelle, the Dane County Medical Examiner has positively identified the body recovered from the submerged vehicle at the Northport Pier in Door County Friday, March 11.

Earnest H. Moore, 87, of Northlake, Ill., was identified as the occupant of the vehicle. Further tests to determine if the death was accidental or medical are still pending. Moore was reported missing in November of 2015 and was last seen by family members Nov. 16.

Moore is known to have been in Door County on Nov. 17, although he had no connections here.

The vehicle was found in approximately 16 feet of water, about 50 yards north of the Pier in the Town of Liberty Grove. The vehicle was extricated by the Door County Dive Team.
