Bonnie Paruch Wins Best in Show Grand Prize

On June 25, Door County artist Bonnie Paruch received her second Best of Show award for her painting “Receiving” in the plein air painting competition hosted by the Cedarburg Artists Guild. North Shore Bank sponsored the $2,000 purchase award, and the painting is now part of the bank’s permanent collection.

“This painting is powerful in design, one which is unique and obviously of the artist’s emotional response to an experience of a moment in time,” said the juror’s selection statement. “The viewer’s eye enjoys paint quality, active brushstrokes, and valid color harmony, with a mystery that pleases the senses.”

The 10th annual plein air painting competition hosted by the Cedarburg Artists Guild has become a premier event for plein air painters. This year 166 talented artists from around the country came to paint the historic town of Cedarburg, Wisconsin.

Paruch’s artwork has been featured in many national publications including Southwest Art and American Artist Magazine. She conducts popular painting workshops from her studio and at regional venues including The Clearing and The Peninsula School of Art.

Paruch is represented by Edgewood Orchard Galleries of Fish Creek; her studio, located at 11249 County Road ZZ, Sister Bay, is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1-4 pm and by appointment. Visit her website http://www.bonnieparuchfineart.com.
