Book Recommendation: ‘Pineapple Street’ by Jenny Jackson

Recommended by KARLIE MARTENS, Bookseller, Novel Bay Booksellers

When you’re stuck in the melodrama of your own family, sometimes it’s nice to float away and enjoy someone else’s family drama. Pineapple Street offers exactly that.

Readers travel to the fruit streets of Brooklyn, where they meet the Stocktons: members of a wealthy, tennis-loving, out-of-touch-with-reality family. The story is told from multiple points of view: daughter Darley, the eldest Stockton child, who married and gave up her trust fund to do so; daughter Georgiana, naive and young; and sister-in-law Sasha, whom Darley and Georgiana promptly nickname “Gold Digger” for her marriage to their brother, Cord.

An affair, death, refusing a prenup, pregnancy, getting fired and giving away all of the money are just a few of the adventures on which the family takes readers. The multiple perspectives keep the drama coming and provide a much fuller picture of the Stocktons.

This WASPy clan has a little something for everyone. Readers will laugh, cry, gasp and fall in love with the whole family!
