Bookmark Collection at Northern Door YMCA

A bookmark titled “The Guy,” by Dale Eskra

Now showing through the end of August at the Northern Door County YMCA in Fish Creek is a collection of bookmarks created by Dale Eskra of Fish Creek. He works in ink and watercolor and occasionally introduces everyday items in his pieces.

“I began creating this collection in March,” said Eskra. “My 40th St. Olaf College reunion was in June, and the college invited alumni to exhibit during reunion weekend. Well, that was all it took, and I went to work. So in June I drove to Minnesota, walked into the gallery with my stuff, and paused. Other works by alumni were staged on the floor, waiting to be hung. I took one look and almost turned and walked out with my bundle. The other pieces were so good. I was intimidated, but I prevailed and exhibited anyway. The rest is history.”

Half of all proceeds will go to the Door County YMCA.
