Bosman and Carlson Selected for Badger Girls and Boys State

Andrea Bosman and Nicolai Carlson will represent the Gibraltar High School community at Badger Girls and Badger Boys State this summer. Billy Weiss of Post #527 is proud to sponsor these two fine young students from our community.

The Badger Girls state session will be held June 15-20, 2008 at the University of Wisconsin campus in Oshkosh. Andrea will be one of 700 girls to assemble to form the 51st state and function according to the laws of the State of Wisconsin. Their purpose is to: 1) develop leadership and pride in American citizens, 2) educate the girls about our system of government, 3) instill a greater understanding of American tradition, and 4) stimulate a desire to maintain our democratic government process.

The Badger Boys state program is to be held June 14-21, 2008 at Ripon College in Ripon. Nicolai will be one of 850 young men from every part of Wisconsin that will become citizens of the “new state” and carry out all the main functions of city, county, and state government using basic laws and fundamental procedures of the State of Wisconsin as their guide.
