Southern Door’s cross country teams finished in the top four at Thursday’s Tiger Invite hosted by Chilton High School.
In the girls 5,000-meter varsity race, Eagles sophomore Emma Bousley placed third in 21 minutes, 20.3 seconds, about 22 seconds off the winning pace of Sheboygan Area Lutheran sophomore Noelle Makela.
The three other Southern Door girls who finished in the top 25 included junior Kelsey Johnson (21st in 24:49.03) and freshmen Elise Jackson (23rd in 25:01.11) and Paige Penovich (25th in 25:02.29).
Sheboygan Area Lutheran had the top girls team score of 44, followed by Chilton (45) Sheboygan South (84), Southern Door (97), Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah (113) and Denmark (143).
In the boys race, the Eagles’ top finish was recorded by junior Ben Grota, who placed fourth in 18:12.02, about 34 seconds off the winning pace of Sheboygan Area Lutheran senior Travis Tock.
The two other Southern Door boys who finished in the top 25 were juniors Lucas Conard (10th in 18:40.02) and Brayden Vogel (23rd in 19:56.71.
Chilton and Sheboygan Area Lutheran tied for the top boys team score of 37, followed by Southern Door (97), Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah (100), Wrightstown (147), Denmark (148), Sheboygan South (154) and Chesterton Academy (238).
