Bowl Making Begins

The public is invited to create ceramic bowls free of charge for Peninsula School of Art’s (PSA) annual philanthropic SOUP! project, on Nov. 17 from 12 – 4 pm at the Sevastopol Town Hall, located at 4528 S. Highway 57, Sturgeon Bay.

Participants will form clay bowls, and then stamp and create textures, before painting an underglaze over the wet clay. The bowls are then taken to PSA in Fish Creek to be completed with a bisque firing and additional glazing.

This event kicks off the beginning of the three-month community bowl-making project. The project culminates with the sale of bowls at the PSA on February 4, 2012 from 11 am – 3 pm.

Those who purchase the bowls are invited to take part in a “bottomless bowl” soup-and-bread buffet with food items donated by area restaurants and individual volunteers. The proceeds from SOUP! benefit Habitat for Humanity of Sturgeon Bay and the children’s art programs at PSA.

Other free bowl-making events are scheduled to take place at PSA on January 7 and 21 from 9 am – 12 pm.
