BOYS HOOPS: Eagles Tally Two Home Wins

Southern Door’s boys basketball team recorded a pair of home victories last weekend.

On Friday, the Eagles won their Packerland Conference contest over Sevastopol, 91-36.

Drew Daoust led Southern Door with a game-high 36 points. Jared Hawkey added 20 points, with Jack Peterson scoring 11 more.

Danny Castillo was the only Pioneer player to score in double figures with 11 points.

On Saturday, the Eagles won a non-conference game over Crivitz, 68-62, giving the Wolverines their first loss of the season.

Daoust once again led all scorers with 33 points, which included six 3-pointers. Hawkey added 16 points.

Tegan Werner led four Crivitz players in double figures with 18 points.

Southern Door, which is now 10-1 in the conference and 15-3 overall, hosts another non-conference game Monday against Luxemburg-Casco before the next league game Thursday at Sturgeon Bay.

Viking Fall in Second Half to Blazers

After leading by 43-36 at halftime Friday, Gibraltar could only muster 18 second-half points and ended up losing at home in Packerland Conference action to NEW Lutheran, 68-61.

Jake Schar led the Vikings with a game-high 26 points, which included four 3-pointers. Braden Sitte added 12 points.

Elijah Meerstein led the Blazers with 20 points, followed by Tristian Lynch with 19 points and Griffin Steffel with 13.

Up next for Gibraltar (3-7, 5-11) are conference games Monday at Oconto and at home Thursday against Peshtigo.

Clippers Downed by Peshtigo

Sturgeon Bay trailed by nine points at halftime Friday before losing its Packerland Conference contest at home to Peshtigo, 60-50.

The Clippers were led in scoring by Garrett Ulberg with 16 points and Isaak Aune with 15 points.

Kaine Fort led three Peshtigo players in double figures with a game-high 18 points.

Sturgeon Bay (3-9, 5-13) has a league game Monday at Sevastopol and a non-conference game Tuesday at Two Rivers, before hosting Southern Door on Thursday.
