Branson to Demonstrate at the Gallery of the DCAL

Door County Art League (DCAL) artist Beverly Hart Branson will be demonstrating during business hours on Saturday, July 12, at the Gallery of the Door County Art League, located at the back of the Top of the Hill Shops, Highway 42 and County F on Spring Road in Fish Creek.

Branson enjoys taking photos and referring to them as she works with watercolor, ink, pencil, oil, and acrylic. She also enjoys trying new materials and techniques. For example, she may scratch into the surface of the paper or canvas with a tool, even a twig she finds when painting outdoors. When working in her studio, Branson sometimes makes a pencil or pen sketch first but frequently just paints what she sees and feels.

“Watercolor is, for me, a very challenging medium, not predictable – but so creative, fun, surprising, and fulfilling when the work turns out and I like the result,” explained Branson.

Gallery manager Jane Delcarson plans to have a number of demonstrations by DCAL artists at the gallery throughout the season. Upcoming artists working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastels include Audrey Off, Sally Berner, Marjory Allingham, Sally Everhardus, Pat Olson, and Penny Pfister.

All types of original art produced by 38 League members are on display and available for sale at the gallery. Business hours are Thursday through Monday, 10 am – 5 pm.
