Branson’s Imaginative Work on Display

Door County Art League artist Beverly Hart Branson is exhibiting her work at the Sister Bay /Liberty Grove Library, 2323 Mill Road, Sister Bay through August.

Branson, a lifetime artist who feels that her creations are constantly evolving, works with watercolor, ink, acrylic, oil, and pencil. When working in her Treetop Studio in Sturgeon Bay, Branson sometimes makes a pencil or pen sketch first but frequently just paints what she sees and feels.

She says, “Watercolor is, for me, a very challenging medium, not predictable – but so creative, fun, surprising, and fulfilling when the work turns out and I like the result.”

Branson paints imaginative, fanciful birds, creatures, flowers, and scenes on paper, fabric, and wood. She also does plein air painting. Many of her works are of Door County pictured in the Shivering Sands area. Inspired by the region, Branson states, “Door County has a 360 degree beauty. The light here is thin and clear and lends itself well to transparent watercolor.”
