Brass Quintet Performs in Sturgeon Bay

Mexico’s finest young brass quintet, Metales M5 will take the stage at the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay April 12. The performance will begin at 7:30 pm, and is sponsored by Door Concert, Inc.

When one thinks about Mexican music, the first type that comes to mind is the Mariachi Band, which is somewhat similar to the Brass Quintet Metales M5, except that Metales M5 plays not only Mariachi music but all kinds of other music including classical, jazz and pops.

Their programming is nicely balanced between classical pieces (played in costume) and jazz tunes including a segment of “007” music (also in costume) and finishing off with lots of rousing Mexican folk tunes including a bullfight scene.

Each member of Metales M5 has extensive professional background with his respective brass instrument. Holding degrees from universities in Germany and Mexico City, the musicians have played in the symphony orchestras of Bremen, Berlin, Monterrey, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Acapulco and Aguascalientes.

Their unique style combining fine chamber music with popular entertainment makes Metales M5 incomparable. Metales M5 is fresh, funny and entertaining.
