Brawner Salutes Veterans through Portrait

In honor of veterans and a tribute to all who have served, Rick Brawner has created a portrait called “Brothers-Veterans.”

The oil on canvas, 18 inches by 24 inches, features two brothers who now reside in Sister Bay and Ephraim. Both are Navy veterans who served on the U.S. naval destroyers pictured in the background. The older brother served during the Korean War; the younger brother served shortly after.

Brawner composed the portrait from photos he took of the brothers just before the coronavirus pandemic, and he researched period naval uniforms and ships to create the rest of the piece.
