Bresnahan to Demonstrate Woodturning at Woodwalk Gallery

On Saturday, September 25 from 1 – 3 pm, master woodturner Kelly Bresnahan will do a demonstration of basic woodturning techniques in the workshop at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor. During the demonstration he will talk about topics including matching a piece of wood and the form envisioned, setting up the lathe, and form-specific tools.

“I believe woodturning is a way to display the beauty of wood, the figure and the texture of the grain unparalleled by any other wood working technique,” said Bresnahan.

Represented in collections throughout northeast Wisconsin and the Midwest, Bresnahan is a sought after artist and teacher. His work was recently recognized in the June 2010 American Woodturner Magazine in an article by Tib Shaw who wrote “Kelly Bresnahan’s striking hollow vessel generated praise for its deep color and impressive proportions.” The piece referred to was of box elder highlighting a beautiful red stain natural to the distressed wood.

Bresnahan’s next full-length class will be held at NWTC in Green Bay beginning in January.

The demonstration is open to the public. Bresnahan is represented by Woodwalk Gallery and currently has pieces on display.

The Gallery and Events Center is located at 6746 County Road G, 2 miles north of Carlsville on Highway 42 and 5 miles south of Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.868.2912.
