Bridget Austin Named DCAL Master Artist

“All Along the Shore” is the theme for the Door County Art League’s All Member Showcase with Juried Awards and Master’s Presentation. The Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay partnered with the league in hosting the exhibit in their Bridge Room, now through Oct. 18.

Jurists Hermke Timm, Jan Comstock and Ken Klopack awarded Mac Schueppert first place for her pastel titled, “Wetlands at Anclam Point.”

Second place went to Bill Doyle for his watercolor “East Shore,” and third place went to Kerry Vavra for his watercolor, “Old Mates II.” Honorable Mentions were awarded to Gale Ritchey, Mitch Heinrichs and Polly Joubert.

The 2015 Master Artist Award honored Bridget Austin, whose watercolors have earned her entrance into the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society as well as Signature Membership into Wisconsin Watercolor Society and Master Status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.

Austin is famous for her creative use of color and design in negative spaces. She shares her insights, friendliness and wisdom in classes here, nationally and abroad.
