Brilliant Stranger Offers Art Sanctuary in Sister Bay

Brilliant Stranger, the studio, gallery and creative destination, opens in 2018 for its 11th Door County season. During the past decade the business has reinvented itself in purpose and location several times, in an evolution of vision, content and style.

This summer Brilliant Stranger can be found behind Ecology in Sister Bay. The secret garden courtyard offers a peaceful sanctuary along with two other unique shops, Glass Door Studio and Studio 768. After moving to Sister Bay last summer, artist and business owner Dawn Patel realized it is the perfect space for sharing and creating. Brilliant Stranger’s line of cotton fair trade clothing has become an international Etsy bestseller, and Dawn’s Ancestry Cloth line of wearable art is now in galleries and shows throughout the U.S. Patel has also recently participated in an artist residency in Puebla, Mexico where she directed and performed public art featuring Ancestry Cloth.

Brilliant Stranger also carries jewelry from local artist Mary Beth Mead’s Lotus Jewels line. New this year is “Carry-Art,”  Brilliant Stranger’s exclusive line of take-out travel kits for projects ranging from t-shirt design to face painting. Outdoor tables are set up daily for art making and fun in the the courtyard.

Brilliant Stranger is open long weekends in May through mid-June and six days a week throughout the busy summer season. For more information visit brilliantstranger.com.
