Brilliant Stranger Opens Second Shop

Behind the new Ecology in Sister Bay is a special green space – a magical courtyard with ferns, trees and songbirds as well as art studios and gallery spaces. Dawn Patel, multimedia artist and owner of Brilliant Stranger, is the newest artist in the third of these charming retail spaces, joining Studio 768 and Glass Door Studio. The new space has been opened in addition to, not in place of, the Egg Harbor shop Brilliant Stranger – Ecotique.

In the new Brilliant Stranger Studio in Sister Bay one can find Patel’s handmade creations, including wearable art, paintings and prints, as well as her own fair-trade cotton line of dresses, bib overalls, shorts and shirts made in Nepal and Door County. Beginning July 1, art kits and walk-in art activities and classes will be available for visitors to enjoy while sitting in the shade of the large trees that surround the Studios.

“I was searching for a seasonal space that was perfect for affordable and informal art making. It’s a perfect environment for relaxing inventive play,” said Patel.

Classes will include, but are not limited to, Watercolor Painting, Acrylic Painting on Canvas, Travel Sketchbooks, Block Printed T-shirts, Painted Rocks with an Introduction to the Free Arts Movement, Painted Messenger Bags and Totes, Up-cycling Old Jeans, Reconstructed T-shirts, and Embroidered Jute Bags. Materials and instruction fees will range from $15 to $40 per class.

Brilliant Stranger Studio, located at 10740 N. Bay Shore Drive in Sister Bay, is open 11 am to 4 pm Thursday through Sunday. Classes will be from noon to 4 pm on those days. For more information visit brilliantstranger.com.
