Bring Back Craft Painting

Base Camp Coffee Bar will exhibit the works of Jane Tomich beginning April 18.

Tomich said, “These paintings are a culmination and art exploration to my art teaching experience from the last 15 years. I wanted to also further explore the craft painting process, its techniques, and materials and particularly painting on pre-primed canvas.”

Nature is a primary subject matter for Tomich, who likes to capture the four seasons, birch trees and “landscapes from my childhood memories.”

Tomich adds, “My desired final outcome from this series of paintings is to bring craft painting on canvas back into art classrooms one day at the K-8 grade levels.”

An opening reception with the artist is planned for April 19 from 4 to 6 pm. Base Camp, open 7:30 am to 3 pm daily, is located at 10904 Highway 42 in Sister Bay. For more information call 920.854.7894.
