Bringing Nature to Life Comes to a Successful End

The Ridges Sanctuary announces the successful completion of its capital campaign, Bringing Nature to Life. The campaign, which surpassed its goal of $3.5 million, represents the largest fundraising effort in the organization’s 76-year history.

“Sometimes in life, the more we look at something the more we come to appreciate it as a special gift,” said Ridges Director Steve Leonard. “And that has definitely been the case when it comes to the members, volunteers, donors and community partners who supported this project.”

The campaign’s primary purpose is to support the construction of a new visitor center in a prominent location on Hwy. 57 in Baileys Harbor. In addition to providing a visible entrance to the Sanctuary, the facility will also serve as a focal point for environmental education on Door County’s unique natural heritage. The facility will also be the first LEED-certified commercial building in Door County.

Groundbreaking for the new facility is scheduled for spring of 2014. Visit RidgesSanctuary.org for project updates.
