Wisconsin Volleyball Academy’s (WVA) Door County 18s team placed third last weekend at the Badger Regional tournament in Milwaukee. This team has players from Gibraltar, Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door, Algoma and Luxemburg-Casco. Players are 16 to 18 years old, and they are coached by Ryan Schopf and his mother Roxanne Schopf.

The team won all five matches in pool play and made the gold bracket, and lost a very hard-fought semi game.

The WVA Door County actually had three teams – the 14s and 17s played hard and won a couple of games each. In all, the WVA Door County volleyball club had a total of 40 girls on four teams (14s, 16s, 17s, 18s), coming from as far north as Gibraltar and as far south as Green Bay.
