Broomball Hits the Ice

The Northern Door Broomball League kicked off play on a fabulous new surface in Sister Bay Wednesday night.

The Teresa K. Hilander Community Ice Rink got a new concrete base this fall, making for great ice this season. The new boards are a great improvement as well.

In the year’s first action, Blue Horse defeated the Peninsula Pulse 4 – 1 powered by Eric Rasmussen’s hat trick. The stallions were aided in their effort by Myles Dannhausen, who exhibited a powerful allergic reaction to the goal, missing several point-blank attempts. Improbably, Pulse defenseman Adam Biwer was not injured in his broomball debut.

Mike Mercier matched Rasmussen in the seven o’clock tilt, carrying JJ’s to a 5 – 1 victory over the 106.9 The Lodge.

In the night’s big contest, the Sister Bay Bowl defeated On Deck 3 – 2.
