Bruemmer Park Zoo Works on Improvement Projects

It’s construction season at Bruemmer Park Zoo in Kewaunee. The Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Department is in the process of making room for potential new exhibits and creating additional green space for picnics and events.

In the recent weeks, the old bear pen was demolished and the worn steps that connected the lower and upper portions of the zoo have been removed, due to safety concerns.

Another project set to begin soon is a new bobcat exhibit. This summer, Baxter and Bella will be moved into a much larger home with new fencing thanks to generous donations made to The Zoological Society of Kewaunee County.

Visitors will notice a new entrance sign in the near future at the zoo. The Zoological Society is seeking sponsors to help rebuild the sign that came down in March due to high winds. If interested in this project, email [email protected].

“This is one of our most popular parks, so it’s important to us that we keep it well maintained,” said Dave Myers, Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Director.

The Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Department is now taking seasonal reservations for the open-air shelters at Bruemmer Park Zoo and other county parks. Those interested in rentals are asked to call 920.388.0444 for information and rates. Bruemmer Park Zoo is located at E4280 County Road F in Kewaunee.
