Brussels Belgian Kermiss

The entire community is invited to attend the third annual Brussels Belgian Kermiss in celebration of the harvest on Aug. 31 at the Brussels Town Park.

The event will begin at 10 am with a Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by food and fun from 11 am – 4 pm. Highlights will include music by the Modern Day Drifters, kids games, a Cooyah Tournament and a wide variety of great prizes to take home through a bucket raffle, ladies jewelry raffle, gun & bow raffle, live auction and silent auction.

Refreshments will also be available to purchase including hamburgers, jutt, Belgian trippe, booyah, hot dogs, Belgian pies and many more. Beer, wine, soda and water will be sold throughout the day. All proceeds from the Brussels Belgian Kermiss will benefit St. Francis & St. Mary Parish.

This Kermiss celebration was started by the parish in 2012 as a way to bring back the Belgian tradition that used to be celebrated by each community as a thanksgiving for the harvest – a time of fun before the winter came and kept people close to home. The event saw a great turnout in the first few years and organizers are hoping that all will come again this year with their families to meet old and new friends alike.
