Brussels Lions Club Creates New Maps at Southern Door Elementary

The students and teachers of Southern Door Elementary School had a nice surprise waiting for them when they returned from summer vacation.

During the summer, members of the Brussels Lions Club painted a 35-foot-by-55-foot map of the United States and a 20-foot-by-30-foot world map of the continents on the school playground. The maps replaced a United States map that club members painted in 2014, which was removed when the playground was repaved last year.

Members volunteered more than 180 hours of work during the summer to complete the project, which all grade levels in the elementary school will use.
