“Bursting With Passion”

Midsummer’s Music began its 24th season on June 13 at Birch Creek Music Performance Center with an opening gala. A long-awaited CD of live performances was unveiled that evening which features works by Mozart, Saint-Saens, and Rheinberger recorded live in concert at various Door County venues.

“This release is in response to many requests,” said James Berkenstock, artistic director of Midsummer’s Music. “We gave this CD the title of Bursting with Passion since it represents the extraordinary energy and enthusiastic emotion of the performances.” This is the third CD that Midsummer’s Music has released, the first in more than a decade.

Midsummer’s Music will present 18 different works for various instrumentations from June 13 through July 15, and another six works in two different programs from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1. The performers are world-class musicians from top-flight professional groups across the Midwest. Players from the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Chicago Philharmonic, UW Madison’s Pro Arte Quartet, and artist-faculty from major Midwest universities make up the 16-member ensemble of winds, strings, and piano.

Many concerts are sold out due to limited seating and the intimate nature of the various venues. To purchase the $18 Bursting with Passion CD or concert tickets, call 920.854.7088 or visit midsummersmusic.com.
