• Robert (Bob) Pohl, has announced plans to publish a 2010 version of the Door County Go Guide. Published annually by the Door County Chamber of Commerce from the early 1990s through 2006, the original Go Guide was a comprehensive directory of Door County businesses that cater to the tourist trade. In its heyday, over 200,000 copies of the Go Guide were printed and distributed each year.

The Go Guide concept was devised when Bob Hastings, managing director of the Chamber of Commerce. “Bob Hastings was very smart about the marketing of this area,” said Bob Pohl. “The Go Guide was the first Door County publication that listed almost all of the businesses and fit neatly into your pocket or purse. It was a huge success from the first issue.”

Pohl said the new Go Guide has many of the same marketing goals as its earlier incarnation. “I’d like to return to the Go Guide’s glory years,” said Pohl, “when it was forward-looking and unique.”
