The Door County Home Builders Association (DCHBA) elected new members to its board of directors Dec. 10. The 2010 officers were installed by Doug Scott, president of the Wisconsin Builders Association, Madison, during the DCHBA annual membership meeting in Sturgeon Bay.

Officers of the DCHBA 2010 board of directors are President Adam Deuchert, A. J. Deuchert Construction; President-elect Jack Gigstead, PortSide Builders, Inc.; Past President Deb Counard, Valley Cabinet, Inc.; Secretary Brenda Shefchik, Macco’s Flooring, Inc.; and Treasurer Jeff Dorner, Van’s Lumber & Custom Builders.

Also, members of the board include builder directors Ron Trimberger, Door County Interiors & Design; Kevin Guilette, Countrywide Construction; and Ethan Jorns, WE Builders, Inc. Associate directors are Dawn Honold, Title Services of Door County; Ben LaCount, Bay Surveying; and Dennis Van Bramer, Bauduin, Inc. Nancy Harvey is executive officer.

During the annual meeting, outgoing DCHBA president Counard received the member of the year award, and Tom Borkovetz, past president of DCHBA, received a gift for his 30-year service to DCHBA.

The Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) and the UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center will be offering free, one-on-one business counseling sessions on Thursday, January 7, 9 am – 5 pm, for any new or existing business owners in Door County.

Chuck Brys, Business Counselor for the Small Business Development Center, will be providing advice on business planning, financing and other issues. Brys is a CPA and former Chief Financial Officer for several Wisconsin companies, with over 30 years of business experience and knowledge to share with local entrepreneurs.

• Bruce Low, Owner/Inspector of Bottom Line Home Inspection of Luxemburg, recently attended the Fall Seminar of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors (WAHI), as well as joined the REALTORS® Association of Northeast Wisconsin (RANW).

To maintain their license, the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing requires home inspectors acquire 20 continuing education credits annually. Low received eight credits for completing course studies in Septic and Mound Systems, Infrared Thermal Imaging Technology, Residential Hybrid Heating Systems and Codes of Ethics.
