The Gallery at Door Peninsula Winery hosted the opening reception Aug. 27 for its latest exhibition. Sixty-seven pieces of art were unveiled to a VIP audience in an exhibit presented in cooperation with the Door County Art League and coordinated by Woodwalk Gallery.

“This is absolutely a flowering of Door County artists,” Woodwalk Gallery manager/owner Allin Walker said. “It is people who have very little experience all the way through people with years and years of experience.”

Elizabeth Heller, president of the Door County Art League, said this was a chance to showcase a unique part of Door Peninsula Winery.

“The wall space is beautiful. It’s two levels high. Literally, thousands of people go to the winery every week. So, it’s a perfect venue for tourists and native people to come and see some wonderful art all year long,” she said.

The latest exhibition to be presented at the gallery offers an opportunity for artists of all skill levels. At Tuesday’s opening reception Cal Bonniver was named the 2013 Master Artist by the Door County Art League.

“I can’t tell you how heartwarming it is to be here with my fellow artists and receive this award from the Door County Art League,” Bonniver said to the large crowd at Tuesday night’s event. “Now, I am a Door County artist.”

The exhibit will be on display from now until the end of October. Door Peninsula Winery is located at 5806 Highway 42 in Carlsville.
