Call for Issues for Door/ Kewaunee Legislative Days

The 2021 Door / Kewaunee Legislative Days is still planning to move forward for 2021.

Legislative days is a grassroots effort to communicate with elected officials and representatives of state agencies in Madison on legislative and state agency issues that are unique to Door and Kewaunee Counties. While COVID may have an impact on the final event format, both county’s feel that the work of Legislative Days must continue.

“While we are all still dealing with COVID, the State must prepare the next 2-year budget,” said Kewaunee County Administrator Scott Feldt. “We feel that it is critical to engage with our State elected officials so they understand issues that are unique to our area as they develop the budget.”

The 2021 program is coordinated by the Door and Kewaunee Economic Development Corporations with the assistance of University of Wisconsin Division of Extension and each County. In previous events, a delegation would travel to Madison and meet with all State legislators to present the selected issues. This delegation included local elected officials, business owners, residents and even students from the local high schools.

The program begins in January with the call to both communities for residents to submit issues that are considered unique to our area. Issues can be submitted by anyone through an online form through the end of January. In February and March, the top five or so selected issues are researched and prepared so they can be concisely presented to our representatives in Madison. The goal will is to present these items in early April so that they can be considered as part of the State budget process. If the event is done in Madison or by a virtual format is still to be determined.

If you want to submit a state agency issue or a legislative issue, it can be entered on a website specifically design for the event at:
