Call for Poetry Submissions

Verse Wisconsin is searching for poems to include in “Poems in Response and Gratitude: Ellen Kort,” for publication in Verse Wisconsin (April 2013).

Kort has been like a godmother to Wisconsin poetry. As the first state Poet Laureate, Kort has long been an active and encouraging presence in her hometown of Appleton and far beyond. She has worked with many poets, students of all ages, grief and therapy groups, and civic leaders. She is always finding new ways to demonstrate the power of poetry and to bring poetry to new ears.

Verse Wisconsin would like to celebrate her work and legacy. Send poems that respond either to Kort’s overall work or more directly to specific poems she has written.

Madison’s third Poet Laureate, Fabu, will guest edit this issue and all work should be sent directly to her. Send 3 – 5 poems to

reading period ends Oct. 15.
