Mary Ann Masson, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Egg Harbor for 35 years, was surprised to be honored at a recent meeting of the Calvary-Zion United Methodist Women (UMW) with a dual celebration of her 90th birthday and a national award of special recognition for her work in missions. The plaque presented by Judie Gauger noted that a donation has been made to the National UMW Office in Masson’s honor for ministry with women, children and youth.
Mary Ann and her husband, Frank, retired to Door County in 1980. They introduced themselves to an usher at Calvary the first Sunday they attended and, when they arrived the next Sunday, he remembered their names. “We knew this was the church for us!” she said.
