Campfire at Crossroads

Nights are growing long, so brighten them up with a campfire at Crossroads at Big Creek. Follow the luminary-lit trail Dec. 2, 5-7 pm, and sit around the campfire for stories and community. The walk starts in the parking lot.

The Discovery Outdoors Club – a free program for children of  elementary-school age and their families – will meet Dec. 3, 10-11 am, when participants will learn about ecosystems through outdoor discovery. Dress for outdoor activities, and meet at the Collins Learning Center.

Then later on Dec. 3, 1-4 pm, join Tom Minahan of the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society for Quantum Revolution, a series that’s exploring the quantum nature of our universe through the theories and experiments that help to describe it. The lecture will take place at the Stonecipher Astronomy Center, 2200 Utah St. in Sturgeon Bay, and will also be available via Zoom. Reserve your spot at quantumrevolution.eventbrite.com.

The Crossroads Bird Club will meet Dec. 6, 6:30 pm. The casual group gathers monthly to learn about birds and participate in community science programs, including a discussion of the Winter Finch Forecast 2022 and the upcoming Christmas Bird Count. Also get some holiday gift suggestions for birders.

The Junior Nature Club – intended for pre-school–aged children and their companions – will meet Dec. 7, 10 am, for an hour-long outdoor activity. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
