Campfire Cooking & Vietnamese Home Cooking

Learn how to prepare delicious Vietnamese dishes at home after attending Savory Spoon Cooking School’s “Vietnamese Cooking at Home” on July 9 at 6 pm. This class will feature recipes and reminiscences from Vietnam’s best market kitchens. Learn to make essential sauces and use the aromatic herbs that create all the flavorful condiments that give this cuisine its great flavor. 

Janice Thomas visited Vietnam several years ago and has a fondness for this approach to cooking. The menu includes: Quick Pho
; Herbed Cabbage Salad
; Hanoi Shrimp Cakes with Ginger Lime Sauce
; and Sizzling Saigon Crepes, Lemongrass Beef on Cool Noodles. 



“Five Star Campfire Cooking” is the class scheduled for July 15 at 6 pm. The instructors for the evening are Mark Samuels and Ray Werner, who have collectively taught Outdoor Education at Lake Forest High School for more than 45 years. 

The class will teach the technique of twig fire, keyhole baking, and how to use a variety of camping stoves. The menu includes: grilled fruit kabobs; hickory smoked bacon wraps; gourmet pizza; fettuccine alfredo with sautéed bacon & leeks; and keyhole cherry pie.
