Cana Island Historic Structure Report Tonight

The Door County Maritime Museum will host a public presentation on the Historic Structures Report (HSR) recently completed on the Cana Island Light Station at the Town Hall in Baileys Harbor tonight at 7 pm. The project team from Kubala Washatko Architects, Inc. of Cedarburg will provide an overview of the HSR process, the highlights of the report, and answer questions on their recommendations and findings.

Over the past few months, the project team has carefully examined the buildings and grounds at the Cana Island light station and thoroughly researched its fascinating history. The core of any historic property management program is accurate information about the site and its buildings. The HSR is the principal tool used to document a site’s history, condition, and maintenance—it is quite literally the road map for all future preservation efforts.
