Candidates to be Interviewed for Town Board Vacancy

Welcome to “Notes from the Grove” providing information about Liberty Grove Town government to residents and visitors.

• The board has approved a request from the Neptune Dive Club for a survey of the Port des Morts Town Park. The club will pay for the survey in its entirety. The survey is needed to continue developing plans for the proposed staircase to the water below the park.

• Chairman Lowry was appointed to the Economic Sustainability Committee to replace former supervisor Tidball. He also will temporarily serve on the Parks and Property Committee until a replacement supervisor is selected.

• The board will hold interviews with parties interested in filling the vacancy on the town board. The interviews are scheduled for December 21st during a special board meeting beginning at 5 pm. Wednesday the 19th was the last day for submitting a request for an interview.

• The Economic Sustainability Committee worked with Rob Burke of the UW–Extension to develop protocol when responding to inquires about potential location/relocation or starting a business in Liberty Grove. It also approved a request to change the name of the committee to Liberty Grove Economic Development as that was more in keeping with its charge. It also decided to become an investment member of the Door County Economic Development Corporation. The next meeting of the committee will be January 15th.

• The town will be a sponsor of the 2013 Door County Legislative Days. Door County Legislative Day (www.dclegislativeday.com) is a biennial trip to the state capitol in Madison to bring a locally agreed-upon agenda of Door County issues directly to state elected officials and government agency leaders. Door County residents, elected officials, business owners and other stakeholders participate in this biennial event.

• A reminder that the town hall will be closed on Monday December 24th and Christmas Day. The town hall will also be closing at noon on December 31st and all day New Year’s Day.

• A reminder taxes can be paid at North Shore Bank and Associated Bank any time the bank is open. The town office will be collecting taxes on Dec. 31st and January 31st only
