Catching Up With Cam

Sevastopol graduate Cam Fuller recently completed a successful season as a redshirt freshman on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) men’s golf team. Fuller competed in four of the five meets this past spring, contributing to the Phoenix’s overall successful season, and a second-place finish in the Horizon League.

The Phoenix enjoyed a solid team season performance, capturing two first-place, two second-place, and one fourth-place finish. But the team experienced a disappointing loss as they narrowly missed out on their first conference championship ever, falling by six strokes to Detroit at the 2010 Horizon League Championships.

“It was disappointing,” stated Fuller. “Especially since we beat Detroit earlier in the season. We all thought we should have won conference.” What made it more disappointing for Fuller was not getting the nod to compete in the Conference Championships. “We graduate three seniors this year,” explained Fuller. “And I think it was one of those things – it was our last meet and our coach wanted to give some of the seniors a chance.”

Fuller completed the season with the team’s second lowest individual stroke average of 74.13. He finished as the top Phoenix golfer in two of the four meets that he competed in. He finished first overall at the Butler Dual at Prestwick Village Country Club in Indianapolis in March. At the same course, Fuller finished tied for fourth at the Butler Spring Invitational.

Fuller is enjoying his summer working at Cherry Hills Golf Course and working on his golf game as he prepares for his sophomore season in the fall. Just recently, Fuller tied his personal best 18-hole score of 65 at Cherry Hills, a score that he shot only once before in his life, last year.
