Here’s what’s coming up at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
On Friday, Oct. 29, 10 am, the Junior Nature Club – Crossroads’ free, weekly program for preschoolers and their siblings and guardians – will hike through a dark and (not very) spooky forest and a talk about night creatures: bats and owls. Children are invited to wear costumes. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
At 4 pm Oct. 29, join the naturalist for a leaf-kicking hike to the Big Creek Preserve. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.
The Habitat Healers volunteers – of all ages – will meet again Saturday, Oct. 30, 9:30 am, to help with land-restoration efforts. Instruction, equipment, gloves, cookies and lemonade will be provided. Meet at the workshop/nursery at the northeast corner of the main-campus parking lot.
The Wisconsin Humanities (beyondtheheadlineswisconsin.org) panel discussion “Imperiled Shores” will take place Thursday, Nov. 4, 6:30-8 pm, to explore how northeast Wisconsin communities can protect their shorelines from Lake Michigan’s volatile waters in the future. It will also feature insights gathered during the reporting of Wisconsin Watch’s upcoming series, Imperiled Shores. Vaccinated people are welcome to join the panel discussion and a deeper conversation in person at Crossroads. The panel discussion will also be livestreamed and recorded.
