Celebrate CHERRIES!

A 1939 Door County wedding performed in cherry juice.

Through the years, Door County has promoted its cherry industry in many ways, some traditional, some not so traditional. Parades and contests for cherry blossom queens and pie bakers were annual events. One year the promotion was a wedding performed in cherry juice; another year it was a pageant with 500 local people performing.

On Saturday July 24, the Door County Historical Museum will celebrate CHERRIES! The event will feature historical displays, cherry snacks, and a reunion of Cherry Blossom Queens and Princesses between 2 – 3 pm.

The museum, open daily from 10 am – 4:30 pm, is located at 18 N. 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.5809.
