Celebrate Christmas in the Village on Dec. 5

The Ephraim Business Council invites you to celebrate the season at Christmas in the Village on Saturday, Dec. 5. Fun, festive family activities are planned throughout the day.

New this year to Christmas in the Village is “Santa Land.” This professionally designed holiday set inside the Ephraim Village Hall will be a prime opportunity for photos with Santa in his sleigh from 1 – 4 pm. Meet members of Santa’s sled team, the Door County Sled Dogs, just outside the village hall from 2 – 3:30 pm.

Beat the winter chill inside where hot chili and soup made fresh by Chef’s Hat Café and Summer Kitchen will be available for purchase beginning at noon. Also indulge in cookie exchange plates featuring an assortment of homemade holiday treats.

The Ephraim Moravian Church welcomes you to share the Advent season, 11 am – 2 pm. Learn about the holiday traditions of Door County’s oldest church by trimming candles, making stars and viewing nativity scenes. Purchase Moravian stars, tour the sanctuary, and visit their Sweets for the Holidays sale.

The Door County Sled Dogs will be ready to mix and mingle Saturday, Dec. 5 from 2-3:30 pm.

Children’s activities, including Christmas themed children’s stories and a craft, will be held at the Ephraim Library, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. Outside the library, catch a scenic horse-drawn wagon ride along Eagle Harbor’s shoreline, 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

From 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm, children get creative with holiday crafts and cookie decorating inside the village hall. Participate in heritage games such as shuffleboard, pick-up sticks and tiddlywinks, courtesy of the Ephraim Historical Foundation. Afterwards, enjoy Christmas carols and a Family Sing-Along, 3:45 – 4:30 pm.

The 16th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony closes the day at 4:30 pm in Harborside Park. In past years, an unidentified Christmas Grinch attended and posed for pictures.

There is no cost of admission, but participants are encouraged to bring a paper good or non-perishable food item donation for Koinonia Kupboard at Sister Bay’s First Baptist Church. The food shelf serves northern Door County and is open to anyone in need Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 4 pm, year-round. There is an exceptional need for personal care products and paper goods such as toothbrushes, toilet paper, paper towels and soap.
