Celebrate Door County with A Taste of the Favorites

A selection of Door County businesses will host a special event to celebrate the arrival of fall’s colors. Featuring a variety of activities including a fashion show, demonstrations, food, and entertainment, “A Taste of the Favorites” will be held on Sunday, September 20 from 11 am – 3 pm at the Corner of the Past and the Old Anderson House Museum in Sister Bay.

The idea for the event came out of the “Favorites” brochure, which was created in 2007 by three local women who own Door County businesses.

“Stepping into our businesses, [customers] would often ask for our recommendations – where to eat, where to shop, and places on and off the beaten path,” says Angie McMahon, owner of Viva la Cottage. “The business owners responded with a guide to what we thought were some of the most unique, friendly businesses in Door County.”

In the three years since “Favorites of Door County” premiered, the brochure has grown to include a collection of 32 businesses, all of which are locally owned and operated.

“A Taste of the Favorites” will showcase the businesses that have made Door County a destination. White tents located on the Corner of the Past property will host samplings and tastings. World on a String, a band consisting of four local musicians will perform from 11 am – 1 pm, and the 100-year-old Koessl barn will be the backdrop for a fashion show at 1 pm.

The event is open to the public, with a contribution on behalf of participating businesses benefitting Corner of the Past. For additional information, contact Erin Anschutz at 920.495.0771 or Debbie Frank at 920.868.2019.
