2022 Door County 4th of July Events: Parades, Fireworks and Fun

When it comes to celebrating the 4th of July, you won’t find a more celebratory bunch than the communities of Door County. Up and down the peninsula, the holiday — and days both leading up to and after it —is packed with festivities, fun and, of course, fireworks.

Take in the local makers scene with the Arts & Crafts fair on the Town Hall lawn from 9 am to 4 pm.
Monday, July 4
Start your day with the Baileys Harbor Fire Department pancake breakfast at the Fire Station, 2404 Park Road) from 7:30 – 10 am, then snag a spot to watch the parade start at 10 am running north to south from Ridges road to Summit Road.
Throughout the rest of the morning and afternoon the arts and crafts fair continues until 4 pm. Get your groove on with live music in Kendall Park starting at 11 am. Need a snack? Strawberry Fest scholarship fundraiser, sponsored by the Baileys Harbor Women’s Club will be serving fresh strawberry shortcake from 10 am – 2 pm. You can also visit one of the food vendors, also in Kendall Park, there to keep you fueled for the festivities all day long.
At dusk, find your spot to take in a spectacular fireworks display over the waterfront from Anclam Park.

Egg Harbor
Sunday, July 3
If you want to enjoy the beach today, plan for the morning as it closes to the public at 2 pm for firework setup. After a morning at the beach, the evening showcases food and refreshments by Egg Harbor Men’s Club, Cowboy Kettle Corn and Dog House starting at 4 pm and live music by Modern Day Drifters at 5 pm. You can also head over to the Peg Egan Performing Arts Center, 7840 Church Street, for a sunset concert performance by Kids of Wisconsin.
Finish it off with fireworks at dusk.
Monday, July 4
Happy Independence Day! Today is all about the parade that starts at 1:30 pm, but beforehand enjoy food and refreshments provided by the Door County Historical Society starting at 11 am.
Enjoy the After Parade with a 5th Quarter Performance by the UW Marching Band in Harbor View Park.
Interested in joining the parade? No formal registration is required. Simply arrive on the north end of Church Street around 12:30 to line up and receive a copy of the parade rules.
Sturgeon Bay
Monday, July 4
Celebrate Independence Day along the water in Sunset Park.
Festivities begin at 5 pm, but you’ll want to come early to claim your spot for an incredible view of the fireworks display beginning at dusk.
Eat, drink and be merry thanks to a variety of food, snacks, and sweet treats. Enjoy all your favorites from The Dog House and Cowboy Kettle Corn, and find new favorites from some of the new faces in attendance, including Mauricio’s, The Dough Shoppe, and Dairy Queen of Sturgeon Bay. Destination Sturgeon Bay will also be selling beer, wine, and other refreshing beverages.
As evening falls, dance along to the beats and sounds of a crowd favorite, Unity, a reggae band out of Milwaukee who takes the stage at 6 pm.
Gills Rock
Monday, July 4
An evening start time of 5 pm gives you the flexibility to explore the Door earlier in the day, then meet , you can get your fill of freedom-ringing fun throughout the county, then kick back with music, food and fireworks at dusk. There will also be a Fish Fry fundraiser to support the Death’s Door Maritime Museum.
If you haven’t had your fill of parades, you won’t want to miss the boat parade, launching from Hedgehog Harbor about an hour before sunset, for anything-but-typical freedom ringing fanfare.
Fish Creek
Friday July 1
Top of the Hill Shops will be hosting their Parking Lot Party from 5 to 10 pm featuring Skyelor Anderson of the Nashville music scene and a silent auction to benefit Door CANcer.
Monday, July 4
Start the day with the Fish Creek Hairpin Run on Cottage Row Road in the longest running 5K run/walk in Door County. Friends of Gibraltar Schools has hosted the fundraising event for over 30 years with the proceeds providing all of the funding each year for field trips and enrichment experiences for students in grades K-12 at Gibraltar Schools in Fish Creek. Official timing returns this year for runners. Strollers for children are allowed on the course, but no dogs. Get more information or register for the run at hairpinrun.com.
Washington Island
For a true slice of small town Americana with fewer crowds, catch a ferry over to Washington Island. From hiking to kayaks to museums and more, spend the day seeing the sights of the island before the Fourth of July festivities that evening.
From 10 am – 3 pm, the fire department will also be hosting a drive-thru brat fry at the firehouse, 1290 Airport Road, to help raise funds for a fire/rescue boat. Hamburgers, hot dogs and gluten free options will also be available.
Kids are encouraged to decorate their bikes in red, white and blue then join the children’s bike parade that travels from Legion Hall, 254 Main Road, to the baseball diamond, starting at 7:30. Fireworks, sponsored by the Washington Island Fire Department, follow at dusk.
Just a note, the last ferry back to the mainland leaves Washington Island at 6:45 pm. If you plan on staying for the fireworks, you’ll want to make plans for overnight accommodations.
Maplewood
Monday, July 3
Start your 4th of July celebrations a day early in Maplewood (with a rain date of the following day) with a big lineup brimming with small town fun. It all takes place 1/4 mile west on County Road H in Maplewood.
Nothing says hometown pride like taking in a good ol’ local ballgame. Cheer on the Maplewood Mets as they take on the Kolberg Braves at 1:30 pm. Throughout the afternoon, get a bite to eat at the food stand (opening at noon), try your luck in the 50/50 raffle and paddle raffle, then stay for the fireworks at dusk.
Sister Bay
If you didn’t get your fill of food, music, fireworks and fun on the 4th of July, Sister Bay has your back with Freedom Fest, which takes place the weekend after the holiday.
Saturday, July 9
The party continues at Marina Park with live music, a brat fry, food vendors and one last hoorah of a don’t-wanna-miss fireworks show as soon as the sun sets.
