Celebrate May With an Orange Ribbon

May has been designated as Supervised Visitation Month symbolized by an orange ribbon. Supervised Visitation centers exist to provide a safe haven for children during parental visitation. What color signifies safety better than orange? Orange is a bright color used to caution people to take notice. HELP of Door County, Inc. (HELP) wants the world to see the orange ribbon and take notice of the thousands of children and families in need of this service.

Whatever the need, HELP’s Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Program offers options to increase the comfort level and safety of the child and parents. The organization maintains neutrality between the parents, so children have the opportunity to see their parents with as little stress as possible. Parents do not have to be clients of HELP in order to access services. Like most services at HELP of Door County, Inc., supervised visits and safe exchanges are provided free of charge.

Supervised visits and safe exchanges can be scheduled between 8 am – 8 pm, Monday – Friday. Additionally, safe exchanges can be scheduled on the weekends. There are two sites in Sturgeon Bay providing services and limited services available through three sites located in northern Door County: two in Sister Bay and one in Ellison Bay.

The Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Program is always looking for volunteers or staff to work in the Northern Door area. If you are interested in more information regarding these services or are interested in working for the program, contact Dorothea at 920.743.8785. Please stop in HELP’s main office, 219 Green Bay Rd., Sturgeon Bay, to pick up your Orange Ribbon today!
