Celebrate New Directions 2009 at Turtle Ridge Gallery

Labor Day is a national holiday celebrating the nations workers, and Turtle Ridge Gallery will celebrate their work for 2009 with the second annual “New Directions” event. On Sunday, September 6 from 9 am – 6 pm all of the new work produced throughout the year will be showcased.

Economy and Ecology were on everyone’s mind in 2009, so Eco 1 & 2, and the Great Bag were popular selections. The canvas and leather bags in three sizes provide a great value to customers, especially those who own smaller Turtle Ridge wallets and pouches that can be snapped on and off the new styles.

Turtle Ridge’s recycled tee shirt line has also been expanded in 2009. The three season Storybook Jacket in wool is lined and decorated with whimsical tees, which are reconstructed with new meaning – each one tells a story, each one is different.

Another highlight for Turtle Ridge in 2009 was sending a La Bolsa Grande bag in purple and red to Michelle Obama. With this bag, there are many other unusual color choices sure to fit your favorite colors, and multi-color combinations – lime and teal, lavender and platinum, taxi-yellow and black – spilled over into other bag styles

Small products and clutches in new colors, including splashy black and white patent leather, rounded out the entire line of goodies.

Another fitting theme at the Turtle Ridge studio this year was to use what they had. Small runs of bags and accessories were designed specifically to use items leftover, and the creations were priced as if the materials were free. Even tiny scraps were used to make laced wristlets, which turned into a whole line of colorful “jelly bean” bracelets.

Everyone is invited to celebrate with Turtle Ridge on Labor Day weekend from 9 am – 6 pm on Sunday, September 6. Artists will demonstrate making one of the new bags from beginning until end during the day, and a drawing will be held to give it away. Patrons are also invited to tour the young vineyard, sample wine, cheese and other refreshments.

Turtle Ridge is located at 11736 Mink River Rd. in Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.4839 or visit http://www.turtleridgegallery.com.
