Celebrate with Holiday-themed Events at Crossroads

At Crossroads at Big Creek during the holiday week, the history of the holidays and the wonders of nature will be shared through a variety of activities.

On Dec. 26, learn about the history of the tradition of bringing trees inside homes, and some of the species used for Christmas trees.

The program on Dec. 27 will focus on animal fur. After a short lesson, kids will decorate animal cookies.

On Dec. 28 families are invited to decorate the FISH Tree, located near the Great Lakes Ecosystem Display. Friends of Crossroads have collected lake-related ornaments to add to the tree each year. Cookies and hot cider will be available.

For the family programs on Dec. 26, 27 & 28, participants should meet at 2 pm in the Collins Learning Center. The programs are free and open to the public.

On Dec. 29 at 3:30 pm, Crossroads will host the annual Sunset on the Old Year Hike. Participants will hike to a spot to see the final sunset of the year. Hikers should meet at the Collins Learning Center.

Crossroads will be grooming trails if snow depth is adequate. For current trail reports, visit The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, is open 2 – 4:30 pm daily but is closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day.
