Centennial Geocache at Peninsula State Park

As part of Peninsula State Park’s centennial celebration, park naturalists created a multi-stage geocache called So Many Memories. Start coordinates are N 45° 08.730 W 087° 14.376.

Geocaching is a great way to combine healthy hiking with modern technology. Geocachers find hidden “boxes” using their own GPS devices.

So Many Memories has been hugely popular. Many have logged their visits on http://www.geocaching.com, under So Many Memories.

One “travel bug,” Mike’s Collie, has been launched from So Many Memories. This travel bug is named for a real collie owned by the Camp Meenahga Sailing Master, Mike Orwig, circa 1940. Mike’s Collie is at Harrington Beach in a cache called Pucket’s Pond. This travel bug’s mission is to visit as many lakes around the world as possible, and to return to Peninsula State Park in the fall of 2010.
