Ceramic Bowl Fundraiser at Southern Door Fine Arts Festival

Southern Door Elementary and Middle School will present the 16th annual Fine Arts Festival on April 14. The Visual Art Department will host a reception and celebration from 5 to 8 pm.

The Fine Arts Festival focuses on the artwork hung in exhibition that was created by students with regular attendance in visual art classes in elementary through middle school. The Elementary and Middle School Music Department will also participate with student music performances throughout the evening.

For the first time at Southern Door, the Fine Arts Festival will also hold a Ceramic Soup Bowl Fundraiser to benefit both the food pantry at the Holy Name of Mary Parish in Maplewood and future visual arts programming. There will be ceramic bowls (for a modest donation) created by local demonstrating potters and families during last year’s Fine Arts Festival and glazed by student, staff, parent and community volunteers. The visitors who purchase a bowl will be treated with a hot soup and bread buffet included with the price of the bowl.

The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open for families students and visitors to buy something fun to read and help purchase books for classrooms or the Books on the Bus program.

Everyone is welcome. For more information contact Southern Door Elementary Art Teacher Barb Schriner-Schmitt at [email protected] or 920.825.732 ext. 1152.
