Chalking an Ocean of Possibility around the Door

Celebrate the fifth year of Chalk the Door on sidewalks around Door County by showcasing your best rendition of the libraries’ summer reading theme of Oceans of Possibilities.

To participate, pick up a free chalk kit July 25-30 at any Door County library branch. Then chalk around the library, by your home or in front of your business or organization. Prizes will be awarded to one winner in each of four categories: Youth (younger than 12), Teen (ages 12-17), Adult (ages 18 and older) and Family. Winners will be announced Aug. 5.

In addition, the library is hosting local artist and teacher Megan Jain, who will share public-art techniques and inspiration July 18, 10:30 am, at the Sturgeon Bay Library; July 21, 2 pm, at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library; July 27, 3 pm, at the Forestville Library; and July 29, 10:30 am, at the Egg Harbor Library. Participants may draw on the library’s sidewalks or on provided construction paper during these sessions.

If you’re chalking at your home or business, submit pictures of your creations to [email protected] to be included in the prize raffle. Include your name, category and library branch to be eligible.

Also follow #ChalkTheDoor2022 on social media to see other shared creations.
