Champs Crowned for Monday Night Volleyball League

Championship week has come and gone for the Door County YMCA Volleyball League, as both divisions crowned champions last night. Third place games and a consolation game were also played, as the final standings are now complete for the 2015/16 season.

In the A League, No. 1 Nicolet Beach Concessions repeated as champions by knocking off No. 3 Bayshore Powerballers in an intense matchup 3 to 1. All games were decided by four points or less, as Nicolet Beach won the first two games, both by a score of 15-13.

Bayshore came rolling back to win game three 16-14, however, Nicolet Beach won game four 15-11 and claimed the championship. No. 2 Music Masters DJs defeated No. 5 Team YMCA 2-1 in the third place matchup, with scores of 15-11, 15-4 and 11-15.

In the B League, No. 3 Hatco squared off against No. 4 Econo Double-Baggers in a matchup of the two hottest teams in the league.

Both teams had finished the regular season in impressive form and found themselves in the championship. Hatco started off fast, winning the first games by a score of 15-7. Econo responded by winning the next two games 15-9 and 15-12. In a potentially decisive game four, the score was tied at 12-12 when Econo rallied off three straight points to take the game 15-12 and the series 3-1.

In the third place game, No. 7 Whiskepedia defeated No. 1 Red Room 2-1, with scores of 8-15, 15-12 and 15-12. Finally, in the consolation game, No. 2 Renard’s defeated No. 5 Para Tran 2-1, with scores of 15-10, 11-15 and 15-13.
