Characters Popping Off the Page at Write On

Write On, Door County is welcoming stand-up comedian June Melby to its August program line-up. She’ll be teaching Characters: How to Make Them Pop Off the Page on Aug. 19, 12-2 pm. The workshop cost is $40, and some scholarships are available for the workshop at Write On, 4210 Juddville Road in Juddville.

The workshop will address strategies for creating and describing interesting characters, based on known or invented people, and its content will apply to writers of both fiction and nonfiction.

Melby is the author of My Family and Other Hazards, a memoir about the retro 1950s miniature golf course that her family ran for 30 years. She holds an M.F.A. in creative nonfiction from the University of Iowa.
