Charlene Berg Celebrates the Spring Opening of Gallery Ten

“Chaos In Black,” mixed media, by Sherri Trial.

With more than 20 new artists, in addition to the 84 individuals already represented, owner Charlene Berg is concentrating on perfecting the exhibition space on three floors of Gallery Ten in Gills Rock by the official opening day, May 2.

This season, the traditional porcelain, oils, graphite renderings and watercolors are now matched with daring new creations in unusual media like wisteria vine, sea glass, Wyoming red granite, Black Hills shale, Montana quartz and red oyster dogwood. A diverse collection of fiber works – executed in waxed linen, cheesecloth, hog casein, snakeskin, horse hair, silk, Peruvian wool and yarns from Croatia, England, Switzerland, Italy, France, Uruguay, Wales and Spain – now grace the gallery walls, too.

A total of 11 individual artists will be featured in solo shows with the first of five individual artist receptions welcoming a mother and daughter duo on Saturday, May 23 (Memorial Day weekend). While not yet featured in solo shows, artists like Indiana potter Zach Medler and mixed-media sculptor Sherri Trial, among many others, bring a wonderful, fresh new look to the ever-changing and diverse collection on exhibit through the end of October. The Ninth Annual Gills Rock outdoor Artfest is scheduled for September 5 – 6, with artists at work all around the gallery grounds.
