Check Out CHERRIES! at the Door County Historical Museum

Charles “Bow” Augustine, plant superintendent of the Fruit Growers Co-op, poses with a plane advertising Door County cherries.

Door County cherries have been promoted in many different ways throughout Door County’s history. In years past, each year would start with a cherry pie contest. In May, when the blossoms were in full bloom, a Blossom Queen would be chosen.
To remember these promotional events, the Door County Historical Museum will celebrate CHERRIES! all day on July 23. Visitors will view a display of photos and information from past cherry events and enjoy samples of traditional and more modern cherry treats.
Those who partook in past cherry promotional events are encouraged to contact the museum.
The museum, open 10 am – 4:30 pm daily, is located at 18 N 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.5809 or email [email protected].
